In BLEACH, Wara presents three flight cases and three alpaca forms. The works bring together the language of transport and storage with the language of the animal body. Through repetition, the distinction between container and object is left unstable.

BLEACH is Wara’s first exhibition in Zurich.

Agatha Wara works across sculpture, installation, moving image, and performance. Her work develops through a recurring cast of objects and components that are rearranged from one project to the next. Plush alpacas, songs, flight cases, industrial fittings, and aluminum silhouettes appear less as symbols than as material for composition. Repetition, staging, and display bring together the performative and the functional, the sentimental and the aggressively unromantic. Rather than building narratives, exhibition making becomes a way of testing how things come to mean.

Wara has presented projects in a range of institutional and independent contexts, including the National Museum of Norway, Reykjavík Art Museum, WIELS Project Room (Brussels), Etablissement d’en face (Brussels), Mecènes du Sud (Montpellier), Mae West Gallery (Lausanne), Centralbanken (Oslo), and Dismagazine.com (New York). Her musical project, Foyote Cugly, with Nicolas Peeters, is currently touring Europe. Wara lives and works in Oslo and is represented by the gallery Damien & The Love Guru in Brussels and Zurich.
