How does art come into being, and what shapes it, pushes it in new directions, and transforms it into radical forms that engage with subject matter previously considered untouchable? Mathias Toubro traverses various mediums—painting, sculpture, and video—to explore specific places and environments that have left a mark on art history. In his artistic practice, Toubro explores the emergence of art, its historical underpinnings, the socio-political landscapes, prevailing trends, and their influence on various guises of artistic expression.
